Happy Birthday Amber from Dad!

This is a poem my husband wrote to our beautiful and sweet daughter Amber. hbamber_thumb

Happy Birthday Amber

I Love You So Much!

My Heart beats with pure joy

At every thought of you

The woman you have become

The person you have always been

Never cease to amaze me!

You are my delight

My shining star

So wonderful and brilliant

In every life you touch

You shine with beauty and love

Twenty Five Years, so fast

A quarter of a century, just a blur

So quickly have those

Precious Years Vanished

They have taken wings to fly

And soared into sweet memories

Leaving yesterdays dreams far behind

Now is the time to feel the need

Grab the years that remain

Let the Spirit’s Heart and

The minds eye clearly guide you

With Love and Compassion

For all who cross your path

As the grains of sand

Each one a year, a gift

From our Father God

Spin with love a tapestry of life

To be lived in passion for others

No matter what it is

That you may choose to do

For that is how you will be measured

In the eons of time beyond our world

By those who never die

Who will some day greet you

As the last grain of sand

Falls into the future.

My lovely daughter

Who is such a blessing to me

And to the entire family

May you be blessed in all you do

May favor shine His face upon you

And may you always know

That from the deepest depths of my heart

You are loved beyond measure

Happy Birthday Amber

I Love You So Much!!!!!!

Saving the Best For Last

As many of you who may have noticed I have posted quite a few blog post today! I have been involved in a blog challenge with my group at Virtual On Learning.  Danna Crawford of Power Selling Mom is the founder of the group.  She has taught us so many things and she is always putting us to the challenge to learn and grow our businesses on ebay.

In our group there are many wonderful people from around the world who are learning and sharing with each other.  Its really awesome to meet so many wonderful people who are willing to jump in and give you a hand.

I am proud to call myself a Virtualite! I highly recommend anyone that has a desire to learn such things as social networking, blogging, selling on ebay,Twitter, and much more to come on over and join us at Virtual Online Learning.  The members are growing and I’ve heard that come January the prices will increase, but let me tell you it is not pricey like some other groups I have entertained the thought of joining, I have been burned before and I’m so glad to have found this group. Danna is awesome and she is REAL and she wants everyone to succeed, So get on over there and sign up!

You will be glad you did!

Looking Back! Christmas 50’s!

Thought I’d share a little something to help get you in the holiday cheer! I know I need it! I sure loved looking at the vintage photos and listening to the song “Baby It’s Cold Outside” by Sammy Davis Jr. and Carmen Mcrae.

It amazes me how times have changed. This year I have noticed people are already decorating for Christmas.  Someone on Twitter was saying something about this and I thought “ You know, with the economy and how things are right now people want to get started early to make it last longer. “ I can’t say I really blame them. Christmas is always a special time filled with excitement and anticipation just because of the season.  I look forward to making gifts and being with family.

What do you think about people getting ready this early?

What Are You Thankful For?

Thanksgiving

As the Thanksgiving day approaches I have to ask myself …”What are the things in my life that I am thankful for?”

  • First thing is knowing the Lord, who is so patient with me!
  • My husband
  • My children
  • My Family members
  • Friends
  • A great church family
  • My new friends I have met over the internet…I have met the most wonderful folks!
  • A roof over my head
  • Food to eat
  • A car to drive
  • clothes to wear
  • patient and forgiving people
  • My computer…lol :) of course if I didn’t have this I wouldn't be able to write this post.
  • There are so many other things that I could go on and on….What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving season?

What's your take?

The woman's Vintage clothing market is an amazing and rapidly expanding internet business with new sellers coming on to meet the demand. Many different and varied approaches are being used in the attempt to promote and sell Vintages items.

Style hive graphic  Chictopia Independent Fashion Blogger logo

A lot is centered around what an actual vintage item really is. First you have your “purists” who only consider items from the roaring 20s through the mod 60s on the vintage clothing list. Other more liberal vintage promoters allow items from the 70's. There is even one group that explains vintage as the best of any certain era and allow the 80s and even some 90s fashions in the door.

However you spell vintage, now is the time to take an interest in the Vintage Clothing market and come check us out.

P.S. Over to the right of the page be sure to take the poll on what's your favorite era --- >

What’s your take on what’s vintage?

Vintage 1974 Holly Hobbie

Holly Hobbie 1

Did you know that Holly Hobbie is a real person?  Born in 1944, her artwork first appeared in 1967, courtesy of American Greetings, the greeting card company!  In 1974, Knickerbocker licensed the artwork of Hobbie that eventually became a legacy of rag dolls that would become a favorite for a generation of American children.  By 1975 Holly Hobbie rag dolls out sold Raggedy Ann dolls five to one.  Interesting…. uh?  Do you remember these dolls?  If so… feel free to leave a comment with your story of remembrance.  Also, if you are interested in these rare vinyl dolls I have 3 up for auction in my eBay store! They include Holly, Amy and Carrie!

A Mini Mammie Vacation!

A couple of weeks ago I went with my grandmother, aunt and cousin to see family in Gibson N.C.  It had been a long time since I had visited and I was glad to get the chance to go back. I remember going there when I was a little girl.

As we were visiting, my cousins threw a SURPRISE birthday for my grandmother, Mammie, who will be 90 years old in August!  It was such a surprise to her and to us! They were so kind and such fun to be around. We hope to go back in the fall.

While we were there we were given the tour of  the houses that my grandmother grew up in. The one below was the first house that she lived in.  It is still in the family and is being restored.  I wish I had taken pics of the inside. My cousins have really done a lot of work.  If we go back in the fall…I will take some more.

u

This next picture below is of the house she lived in….in what they call town. The house above is referred to “the house in the country”.  The house in town is the one I remember.

n

When we were upstairs being shown around, I noticed 3 old trunks! I just had to ask “ Would there happen to be any vintage clothes in there?” Well, the answer was no, but lets see whats in this closet in the hallway.  Lo and behold it was full of vintage clothing, hats, luggage pieces etc. I was in LOVE! These actually belonged to my great aunt, uncle and possibly grandmother! It was so fun looking through them and getting to share my love for the clothes with my family.

We all decided to play a little dress up with the hats! That was really fun! The lighting in the pictures aren't the best, but have fun looking anyway!

2From left to right is my cousin’s wife Leslie, my 2nd cousin Josie, and my 1st cousin Gibson.  Gibson was named after my grandmothers maiden name which is also the name of the town! Cool…uh!

5 This is my lovely aunt Martha! She is a very special lady in my life. I have always looked up to her and have held her in upmost respect.  She has taught school for like 40 years! She was my go to person when I needed advice with my children.

11 This is my second cousin Margie. She and her husband reside in the house in “town”.  The house with the clothes! It was fun meeting her again and what a sweet heart she is!

7 This is MOD Mammie! he…he.. Actually this is my grandmother who I call Mamme!  She is my friend and my grandmother…She has a very special place in my heart and in my house whenever we can get her there!! ♥

CIMG0118And this is my sweet mom, Anna and I! Although she didn’t go with us, I wanted you to meet her too! She is my confidant, my encourager and sounding board.

We all hope to go together to go to Gibson in the fall… I can just imagine us ALL together! The stories we would hear of the past, and the stories we will have to tell, the laughs that I’m sure my dad and his cousin Josie will cause. Not to mention all the great country cooking we’ll be enjoying!

It will be great!

Until next time,
