Did you know that Holly Hobbie is a real person? Born in 1944, her artwork first appeared in 1967, courtesy of American Greetings, the greeting card company! In 1974, Knickerbocker licensed the artwork of Hobbie that eventually became a legacy of rag dolls that would become a favorite for a generation of American children. By 1975 Holly Hobbie rag dolls out sold Raggedy Ann dolls five to one. Interesting…. uh? Do you remember these dolls? If so… feel free to leave a comment with your story of remembrance. Also, if you are interested in these rare vinyl dolls I have 3 up for auction in my eBay store! They include Holly, Amy and Carrie!
